Nablus, Palestine — since 1921

A century of giving — the journey continues

Institutions built by the women of Nablus: a hospital, a nursing college, homes for orphaned and blind girls, and vocational training that opens the door to work.

One of Palestine's oldest charities

The Arab Women Union Society was founded in Nablus in 1921, led by successive elected boards of the city’s women who left a clear mark on Palestinian charitable work.

Its work moved from direct aid to institution building, expanding into health and education as the foundations of social service. Today, ten institutions and centres serve thousands of families.

A century

A century of work, begun by the women of Nablus

From a group of women who met in 1921 around a single idea — that institutions should be built rather than aid handed out — to a hospital, a college, and centres caring for orphaned and blind girls and opening the door to work. The journey has not stopped.
